
McMahon Wins Bronze, Sets School Record on Final Night of Phillips 66 National Championships

Kensey McMahon bettered her school-record time in the 1500m freestyle to finish third on the national stage
INDIANAPOLIS – Alabama swimmer Kensey McMahon capped her week at the Phillips 66 National Championships by winning a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle.
McMahon swam a time of 16:07.78 to finish third in the event, bettering her 16:09.80 Alabama record-breaking performance from 2019.

Saturday's school record was the first of two new Alabama standards set by McMahon this week, who swam a time of 8:25.97 in the 800m freestyle on Tuesday. She also captured an eighth-place finish in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:10.27 on Friday night.
UA teammate Derek Maas also closed his time at the Phillips 66 National Championships Saturday after competing in a trio of events during the week. Maas finished fourth in the B Final of the 50m breaststroke with a time of 27.81, before winning the C Final of the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:01.54. Additionally, he swam a time of 2:03.26 (35th) in the 200m individual medley to round out the week.
