
Alabama Welcomes Tennille Adams as Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach

Adams joins the program with nearly 20 years of coaching experience
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry announced Monday the addition of Tennille Adams as an assistant coach. Adams brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience with her as she joins the Crimson Tide staff after serving as the associate head coach at UCF last season.
During her time at UCF, Adams served as the offensive system coordinator and aided in post-player development, helping the program advance to an American Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament quarterfinals appearance. Among other duties, Adams coordinated opposing team scouting, individual workouts, film breakdown and helped create a strategic plan for the recruitment of student-athletes.
Prior to her time in Orlando, Adams worked at Memphis for one season (2021-22) after spending three years at Wright State (2018-21) as an associate head coach with both teams. Adams helped guide the Tigers to their best season since 2015-16 with 16 wins as well as an appearance in the AAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
During her three years at Wright State, the Raiders won a pair of Horizon League titles in 2019 and 2021 and earned NCAA Tournament berths those same seasons, which included a second-round appearance in 2021. Adams coached the post players with the Raiders, helping to develop Horizon League All-Defensive Team honoree Tyler Frierson and Horizon League Freshman of the Year Shamarre Hale.
Adams also spent time as an assistant coach at Ball State from 2015-18, a head coach at Howard from 2013-15 and an assistant coach at Northwestern from 2008-13. Additionally, Adams was an assistant coach at American (2007-08) and North Carolina A&T State (2005-07). She got her start at Lon Morris Junior College as an assistant coach in 2004, working with the Bearcats for one season.
Adams has ties in the Southeastern Conference as she was a member of the 1998 NCAA Final Four and 1999 WNIT Championship team with the Arkansas Razorbacks. She graduated from Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. The East Chicago, Indiana, native attended Central High School. She was ranked as one of the top five post players in the country by Blue Star and was named to the 1995 Indiana All-Star Team.
