
Alabama Soccer Incoming Freshman Kierson McDonald was Named Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year

McDonald helped lead her high school team to a 7A semifinal final appearance this season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama incoming defender and freshman Kierson McDonald was named the Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year, the organization announced this week.
McDonald led the Oak Mountain High School Eagles to a 22-4 record this season and a 7A semifinals appearance. The high school senior scored 31 goals, and 15 assists, to earn First-Team All-State honors.

- A 5-10 defender from Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Ala.
- Earned Southeast All-Conference First-Team honors for her performance with Alabama FC ECNL
- Named Metro Player of the Year in addition to being named an All-Metro First Team honoree
- Selected All-State First Team, All-County First Team and 2021 AHSAA State Tournament MVP
- Scored 31 goals and recorded 15 assists, earning first-team All-State honors
- Has maintained a 4.0 GPA
- Won the 2021 Alabama State Championship
