SEC Outdoor Championships Await Alabama Track and Field this Weekend

The Crimson Tide will open the three-day, postseason meet with the men’s hammer throw on Thursday
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Alabama track and field teams are set to compete at the SEC Outdoor Championships, May 11-13, at LSU's Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
The three-day meet will feature preliminary action on the track Thursday and Friday with event finals taking place on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide will open the postseason meet Thursday afternoon (noon CT) in the men's hammer throw. The first preliminary event for Alabama will be the men's and women's 800-meter run at 5:30 p.m.
The Alabama men's program enters the Bayou ranked No. 4, nationally, while the women's program comes in at No. 18.
SEC Outdoor Championships
- Bobby Colantonio Jr. will open the postseason meet on Thursday in the men's hammer throw at noon CT, with the last event of the day featuring Elka Machan in the women's 10,000-meter run (8:15 p.m.)
- Alabama will compete in 10 total events on the opening day of the conference meet
- The women are traveling 20 to the Bayou, while the men's travel list is 27 strong
- Alabama enters the meet ranked in the top 13 nationally in the men's 400m hurdles (No. 2), the men's 400m (No. 6) and the women's 100m (No. 13)
- Top-15 nationally ranked UA men's events include:
- Tarsis Orogot | No. 1 | 200m, and No. 10 | 100m; Khaleb McRae | No. 8 | 400m; Eliud Kipsang | No. 8 | 1,500m; Victor Kiprop | No. 2 | 10,000m; Chris Robinson | No. 2 | 400m hurdles; Corde Long | No. 11 | 400m hurdles; Leander Forbes, McRae, Orogot, Robinson | 4x400-meter relay | No. 2; Christian Edwards | No. 15 | triple jump; Bobby Colantonio Jr. | No. 11 | hammer throw

- Flomena Asekol | No. 11 | 1,500m; Mercy Chelangat | No. 2 | 10,000m; Hilda Olemomoi | No. 4 | 10,000m; Chelsea Igberaese | No. 8 | shot put; Taylor Gorum | No. 15 | hammer throw
Last Time Out
- The Crimson Tide tallied nine top-five finishes, broke multiple PRs and made a jump in its all-time top-10 list in its regular-season finale, also hosted by LSU
- The meet was highlighted by a PR-breaking performance by Gorum (56.15m | 184-02), who now holds the third-farthest mark in program history
- On the men's side, DeMarco Lemons (50.60m | 166-00) secured a fourth-place finish on his final attempt in the men's discus
- Triple jumper Christian Edwards concluded Alabama's action in the Bayou with a second-place finish (16.12m | 52-10.75)
