Anne Marie Hiser captured the lone point for the Tide in a tough battle against the ranked Gators
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama women's tennis team fell 4-1 in a battle against the No. 17-ranked Florida Gators on Friday.
Florida (14-6, 8-4 SEC) captured the doubles point with back-to-back wins on courts two and one, respectively. After Florida secured wins on courts one and four in singles, Anne Marie Hiser secured the Tide's (12-10, 5-7 SEC) lone point with victory on court five. Petra Sedlackova would battle back in the final match, winning four straight games to tie at 5-5 in the second set, but Florida would record the win for the overall team victory.
From Head Coach Jenny Mainz
"Credit goes to Florida today as they played a complete match getting a great start with the doubles point. We played from behind all day and that's tough to do against a top team. Florida grabbed five first sets in singles and although we fought hard to come back it was too late. We have another great opportunity Sunday at 1 p.m. against No. 29 South Carolina."
