Sydney Orefice was named to the 2023 team for her work within the community
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis player Sydney Orefice was named to the Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Community Service Team, the league office announced Thursday. The SEC Community Service teams highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to their community with superior service efforts.
Over the course of her career at Alabama, Orefice has always made an effort to give back to the Tuscaloosa community. Recently, Orefice volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, as well as Alabama Athletics' annual Halloween Extravaganza – an event for the local youth and families to come out and trick-or-treat with current student-athletes.
Orefice also volunteered with a Night to Shine in Tuscaloosa, an event hosted by The Tim Tebow Foundation in which local, special needs children have the opportunity to participate in a prom night, complete with hair, makeup, limos, a red carpet and unforgettable VIP treatment. In December, the Milton, Ga., native spent her efforts at the RISE Center Holiday Event.
Earlier this calendar year, Orefice participated in Read Across America, a national day that strives for all children and youth in every community across the United States to celebrate reading. The event is celebrated on March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss.
