Fouts is the first D1 pitcher to earn the award three times in a season since 2015
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the second-straight week and the third time this season, Alabama's Montana Fouts is the Wilson/NFCA D1 Pitcher of the Week, announced Tuesday.
The weekly recognition by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association is the third this season for Fouts, making her the only Division-I pitcher to win the weekly award three times in a season since the NFCA split its weekly accolades into separate player and pitcher awards in 2017. The last D1 pitcher to win the award three times was UCF's Shelby Turnier in 2015.
The NFCA award is the 11th in program history, with Fouts as the only Crimson Tide player to win the award three times.
The fifth-year senior earned two complete-game wins over South Carolina last weekend, allowing just one unearned run over 16.0 innings pitched with 25 strikeouts. After tossing 9.0 innings with 15 strikeouts in game one against the Gamecocks, she followed that up with a no-hitter in game two, her second this season and the fourth of her career. She is one of just four Crimson Tide pitchers to throw multiple solo no-hitters in a season.
