No. 8 Alabama Gymnastics Hosts Boise State to Close Out Regular Season

The contest will be Alabama’s senior night
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 8 Alabama gymnastics team will conclude its regular season against No. 31 Boise State Friday Night in Coleman Coliseum. The contest will begin at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on SEC Network+.
The meet is Alabama's senior night, and fifth-year seniors Shallon Olsen and Sania Mitchell will be honored alongside UA's senior class of Luisa Blanco, Ella Burgess, Makarri Doggette and Mati Waligora.
Friday's contest is also the celebration of Big Al's Birthday, and giveaways for the meet include Rita's Italian Ice, Krispy Kreme donuts, Big Al's Birthday Cups and gift bags, all while supplies last. There will also be raffles, face painting, a party hat decoration station and various games available on the concourse.
Head Coach Ashley Johnston said
"The senior class is such a special group. The six of them have a huge influence and impact on our entire team, and I'm so excited to see them out there performing in front of our amazing fans and community one last time. Outside of the competition, I want them to just take it all in, not just the gymnastics but the sisterhood and the entire fanbase that makes Alabama Gymnastics so special."
Friday's Meet
- Alabama is 8-0 in all-time matchups against Boise State, most recently defeating the Broncos 196.925-196.675 in Coleman Coliseum on Feb. 24, 2017
- The Crimson Tide comes into Friday's meet 6-5 so far this season and 2-1 in non-conference matchups, while the Broncos are 4-6 and 0-4 in non-conference meets
- Alabama's season-high score is a 198.000 from the Metroplex Challenge on Feb. 11, with Boise State earning a season-best 196.825 last Saturday against Minnesota
Last Time Out
- The No. 8 Alabama gymnastics team was edged out by the No. 14 Missouri Tigers, 197.075-196.750, Friday Night in the Hearnes Center
- The Tide won three out of the four events and swept every individual title in the contest
- Luisa Blanco scored a 10.000 on balance beam to lead the Tide to a 49.450 on the event, earning her third perfect score of the season and fourth of her career
- The senior is now Alabama's all-time record holder for 10.0s on the balance beam with four perfect scores
- Blanco also won the floor exercise with a 9.950, her fifth win of the season in the event
- Doggette won the uneven bars with a 9.950, marking her sixth consecutive score of 9.900-or-higher on the event and her fourth uneven bars event title of the season
- Lilly Hudson earned her first all-around title of the season with a 39.450, scoring a 9.875 on the vault, a 9.775 on the uneven bars and a pair of 9.900s on the balance beam and floor exercise
- In all, Alabama posted seven scores of 9.900-or-higher, with Cam Machado (9.900) and Doggette (9.950) on the uneven bars, Shallon Olsen on vault (9.900), Hudson (9.900) and Blanco (9.950) on floor exercise, and Hudson (9.900) and Blanco (10.000) on balance beam
