Colby Shelton Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Shelton finished with seven total hits last week, six of which went for extra bases including five home runs
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama infielder Colby Shelton was selected as the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The recognition is the first of Shelton's career and the Crimson Tide's first during the 2023 season.

- Led Alabama in nearly every offensive category during the four-game stretch, including hits (7), home runs (5), RBI (12), runs (7), total bases (23) and slugging percentage (1.533)
- Totaled at least one hit, RBI and run in all four contests
- Posted three multi-RBI games and contributed three two-run efforts to go with three two-hit outings
- Six of his seven total hits went for extra bases with a double and five homers – two of which were grand slams
- Homered in all three games of the UIC series, including back-to-back multi-homer performances on Friday and Saturday
- Recorded a grand slam in consecutive contests on Saturday and Sunday
- Contributed to the Crimson Tide's streak of four games with a grand slam during the week to set a new program record
