Torrence throws the first no-hitter of her career and the 42nd in program history
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A no-hitter from junior Jaala Torrence highlighted a pair of shutout victories for Alabama softball Saturday afternoon at the T-Mobile Crimson Classic.
Torrence gave Alabama (15-3) a stellar start in the circle vs. Robert Morris (5-7), throwing her first career no-hitter, the first for any Crimson Tide pitcher this season and the 42nd in program history. The offense backed her up to the tune of 10 runs over 4.0 innings at the plate, including an eight-run outburst in the fourth. In the second game of the day against Longwood (9-7), Alabama capitalized on an early Lancer fielding error to put up four runs in the second inning, later adding an insurance run in the fifth to bring the score to its final tally of 5-0.
Jaala Torrence (4-2) allowed just one baserunner in the win over Robert Morris, striking out four, while Montana Fouts (8-1) fanned 12 in the complete-game victory over Longwood. Kenleigh Cahalan was a combined 3-for-6 with four RBIs on the day, including a home run in game one. Bailey Dowling also drove in four runs on the day, with three coming off a pinch-hit home run against the Colonials.

From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"Throughout the entire history of our program, if someone threw well on a Friday night, then the next pitcher on Saturday always wants to go out there and do even better. It's always been like that with our entire pitching staff. When I found out that it was the 42nd no-hitter in program history, I really couldn't believe it because that is a lot of no-hitters. Give credit to Jaala [Torrence], Lance [McMahon] and [Ally] Shipman for catching and then having someone like Montana [Fouts] who gives up a hit and then decides to strike out seven in a row after that."
From Jaala Torrence
"I think the whole bullpen just came out this weekend with an attack mentality. Today was great and my defense was firing me up. Everything pieced together perfectly. We talked about different things we need to work on personally and today we had goals to execute, which we did. It's a good feeling to achieve our goals that we've been working on the past few days. The atmosphere was great, and I absolutely love my team - they made me feel so special."
