The Crimson Tide is one of four conference schools to either be ranked or receive votes in the opening rankings
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A week after its performance at the Cardinal Invitational, the Alabama rowing program received 256 votes in the Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association's week one rankings, the highest amount of votes received for a school just outside the top-20 list.
The Crimson Tide is coming off a stellar performance in last week's competition in Oak Ridge, Tenn., securing 10 victories across 15 races during the two-day regatta. Over the course of the weekend, Alabama's crews picked up wins against No. 18 Tennessee, No. 19 Indiana, Clemson (RV) and Louisville (RV).
Racing as an affiliate member of the Big 12 Conference with fellow Southeastern Conference representative Tennessee, the Crimson Tide is one of only four Big 12 programs to either be ranked or receive votes.
From Head Coach Glenn Putyrae
"It's great to see that what we have done on the race course early in the season is being recognized by other coaches but we know we still have a long way to go and a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be as a team."
UP NEXT
Alabama will return to Oak Ridge Saturday, April 1, for a dual race against No. 18 Tennessee.
