
No. 8 Alabama Gymnastics Travels to Compete Against No. 14 Missouri

The contest will be Alabama’s final road meet of the regular season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 8 Alabama gymnastics team will travel to Columbia, Mo., to face off against the No. 14 Missouri Tigers Friday Night. The contest will begin at 6 p.m. CT inside the Hearnes Center.
The Crimson Tide is 6-4 so far this season and 4-3 in conference matchups, while the Tigers are 6-3 overall and 3-3 in conference matchups.
Friday's meet will be the Crimson Tide's final away meet of the regular season slate and will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
Head Coach Ashley Johnston said
"Over the last few weeks, we've learned that this team is resilient and that we know how to fight.in tough situations. We've done a really great job of fighting for every single tenth to finish meets strong. We've also learned that we need to start stronger, and that is something that we are focusing on this week. We need to make sure that we take charge of the environment that we are in and begin the competition really strong, focusing on owning every moment."
Friday's Meet
- Alabama is led by Ashley Johnston, in her first season as UA's head coach, while Shannon Welker is in his 10th year at the helm of the Tigers
- Alabama comes into Friday's meet 6-4 so far this season and 4-3 against conference opponents, while the Tigers are 6-3 overall and 3-3 in conference meets heading into the contest
- The two teams last competed against each other in the regular season on Feb. 25, 2022, with Alabama taking home a 197.500- 196.775 win.
- The last matchup between the Tigers and the Tide in Columbia was Jan. 15, 2021, where UA earned a narrow 195.775-195.750 win

- The No. 9 Alabama gymnastics team fell to No. 8 LSU, 197.975-197.925, Friday night in Coleman Coliseum
- Alabama's total of 197.925 is its third score of 197.850-or-higher this season and its fifth consecutive score over 197
- The Crimson Tide won the uneven bars (49.325) and balance beam (49.700) in the meet, while tying LSU on floor exercise with matching scores of 49.575
- Makarri Doggette earned her third event title of the season on the uneven bars (9.950), with Hudson and Blanco tying for the balance beam title
- Blanco now has 14 individual titles for the 2023 season
- The Tide's 49.700 balance beam rotation featured four scores of 9.9-or-higher, with Ella Burgess leading off with a 9.925, Rachel Rybicki scoring a season-best 9.900, and Luisa Blanco and Lilly Hudson closing it out with back-to-back 10.0s
- Alabama has scored four 10.0s this season, with Blanco and Hudson's perfect scores tonight added to Blanco's 10.0 on balance beam against Auburn on Feb. 3 and Makarri Doggette's 10.0 on the uneven bars on Jan. 27
