
Alabama Men’s Golf Opens Spring 2023 Tournament Season at the John Hayt Intercollegiate

The Crimson Tide will tee off in the two-day event Sunday morning
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 15 Alabama men's golf team opens the 2023 spring season this weekend at the John Hayt Intercollegiate. The two-day event is hosted by North Florida and will feature 36 holes on Sunday with the final 18 taking place Monday at the par 72, 6,966-yard Sawgrass Country Club course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
This will be the Tide's 13th appearance in the Hayt and first since 2019. Alabama has won the event twice, bringing home back-to-back team titles in 2007 and 2008.
The Lineup
- The Crimson Tide's starting five for the event will consist of Canon Claycomb, Thomas Ponder, Nick Dunlap, Jones Free and Jonathan Griz
- Jack Goldasich will be competing in the event as an individual
- Alabama will be led by trio of Claycomb (70.50), Ponder (70.17) and Dunlap (70.00) – all of which average under 71.00 strokes per round last fall
- Free will compete in his second event of the year, while Griz will be making his third appearance this season in the Tide's lineup
- Goldasich will make his second appearance in a tournament this year and his first competing as an individual
Tournament Preview
- The 14-team field features four teams in the nation's top 50, headlined by No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 15 Alabama
- In addition to the Tide, other teams in the field includes host North Florida along with UAB, Arkansas, UCF, Coastal Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast, Furman, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Tech, North Texas and UT-Chattanooga
