Alabama Women’s Tennis Sweeps Tulsa, Yale in Final Day of Blue Gray Tennis Classic

The Crimson Tide defeated Tulsa, 4-2, before topping Yale, 4-1, on the final day of competition
MONTGOMERY, Ala. –– The Alabama women's tennis team (7-3) concluded the final day of competition on Saturday at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic. The Crimson Tide ended the event on a high note by defeating both Tulsa and Yale.
After playing doubles on Friday, the Crimson Tide entered Saturday's match against Tulsa (7-5) sporting a 1-0 lead and went on to secure the 4-2 win in singles play. To close out the day Alabama posted a 4-1 victory against Yale (6-5).
Due to a rain delay, singles matches were played first during the third round of competition. If the match score was tied, 3-3, then doubles would be played to decide the match.
Against Tulsa
- Owning a 1-0 lead to begin the day, Alabama's Klara Milicevic secured UA's first singles point of the day with a straight set 6-4, 6-2 victory over Tulsa's Amy Leather on court five
- Ola Pitak followed with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Lily Hutchings on court three to give UA the lead
- The Golden Hurricane trailed close behind with wins on courts two and four but Loudmilla Bencheikh went 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 against Laia Conde Monfort on court one to clinch the match
Against Yale
- Yale would gain an early advantage after taking the first point of the match off a retirement on court two
- However, Bencheikh would even the score with a 7-6, 6-1 win at the top of the ladder
- Pitak posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory on court three to secure the lead for Alabama
- On court four, Anna Parkhomenko bettered Yale's Sophia Zaslow 6-2, 6-3 for the Crimson Tide's third singles point of the night
- Alabama clinched the match on court six after a retirement from Yale's Jamie Kim
