The graduate student recorded back-to-back double-doubles over the week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Graduate student Brittany Davis was named the SEC Player of the Week for leading the Alabama women's basketball team to a pair of conference wins, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Davis averaged 20 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and 1.5 steals a game to help lift UA over the week to its seventh and eighth win in league play.
Davis led the floor in both the Crimson Tide's 72-65 road win against Kentucky Thursday and its 69-46 victory over Auburn at home Sunday. The shooting guard posted back-to-back double-doubles, recording a 22-point, 11-rebound performance against the Wildcats before following with 18 points and a career-high 17 rebounds against the Tigers. Her 17 rebounds led the SEC in single-game boards last week. Davis is the first Alabama player to record 17-or-more rebounds in a game since Erin Hogue pulled down 18 boards in November of 2011.
Alabama is coming off a program-record five consecutive regular season SEC road wins and posted its longest winning streak in school history against Auburn with nine straight wins in the series. The Crimson Tide is currently on a three-game winning streak in league play coming into Thursday's home contest against Vanderbilt (6 p.m. CT on SEC Network+).
