TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second consecutive year, Alabama will host the first round of the NCAA Soccer Tournament after being selected as the No. 6 seed. Alabama will welcome 2023 Southern Conference Champion Western Carolina (13-4-3) to Tuscaloosa for a 5 p.m. CT match on Friday.
The Crimson Tide earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament for its third consecutive year, making a three-year run for the first time in UA history, and its sixth overall appearance. Alabama enters the tournament with an 11-4-5 overall record after finishing fourth in the Southeastern Conference, marking UA's second-highest finish in league play since 1998.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"I felt we did enough throughout the year to earn the opportunity to host and I was glad that the committee rewarded us for that. So, we're excited. I don't know much about Western Carolina, although I do know they knocked off a very tough Samford team, a team that we're familiar with. Clearly, they're a good team. We're excited to host them and have them come to Tuscaloosa. We'll get to work on preparing for them this afternoon."
