Grant Nelson recognized as one the top players in college basketball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men's basketball forward Grant Nelson was named to the 2023-24 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List, the Atlanta Tipofff Club announced Monday. Nelson is one of seven SEC players to be named to the list as the forward from Devils Lake, N.D. enters his first season with the Crimson Tide.

- Named to the Karl Malone Award Watch List, which annually recognizes the top power forward in the country
- A Preseason First-Team All-SEC honoree selected by local and national media
- Selected to the Coaches Preseason All-SEC Second Team
- Ranked as the No. 17 transfer according to ESPN.com
- Enters the 2023-24 season as the No. 41 returning scorer in Division I
- Earned First Team All-Summit honors in 2023
- Became the second NDSU player to ever be a USBWA All-District honoree in 2023
- Averaged 19.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.1 steals per game in 2023, leading NDSU in every category
- Scored 1,043 career points and grabbed 520 rebounds for the Bison
- Scored a career-high 36 points last season against North Dakota
- Named Summit League Sixth Man of the Year in 2021 while earning a spot on the Summit League All-Newcomer Team during his freshman season
