Former Alabama players make an impact in Week 12 of the NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 12 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
Jalen Hurts excelled in Philadelphia's thrilling 37-34 overtime win against the Buffalo Bills. The Eagles' quarterback completed 18-of-31 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns on a rain-soaked night. Hurts also added 65 yards rushing and two scores on 14 carries, including a 12-yard dash to the end zone in overtime to help Philly improve to 10-1 on the season.
A trio of former Crimson Tide running backs rounded out the offensive group for the week. Derrick Henry led the Tennessee Titans to a 17-10 win over Carolina thanks to his 76 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Najee Harris also helped the Steelers to divisional victory, accumulating a season-high 99 yards to go with one score on 15 attempts in Pittsburgh's win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Las Vegas veteran Josh Jacobs carried 20 times for 110 yards and a touchdown while adding four receptions for 15 yards in the Raiders' divisional matchup with the Chiefs.
On the defensive side of the ball, Christian Harris led the Texans' defense with 12 tackles, including one for loss, while adding a quarterback hurry in Houston's divisional pairing with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Da'Shawn Hand also excelled for the Dolphins, totaling three tackles, a sack and one quarterback hurry to help Miami to a 34-13 road win over the New York Jets on Black Friday.
A pair of former Alabama defensive backs also stood out in Week 12. Xavier McKinney racked up 10 tackles, two pass breakups and an interception with an 18-yard return in the New York Giants' 10-7 win over New England. Lions' rookie Brian Branch registered a team-leading eight tackles and a pass breakup in the Detroit's Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
