Former Alabama players make an impact in Week 11 of the NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 11 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
Two former Alabama wide receivers led their respective squads to wins in Week 11. Calvin Ridley totaled seven receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns while adding an 18-yard rush in the Jacksonville Jaguars' 34-14 win over the Tennessee Titans. Also excelling from his wideout post was Jameson Williams of the Lions. Williams caught two passes for 44 yards and a touchdown to spark Detroit's 31-26 comeback victory over the Chicago Bears.
Tua Tagovailoa led the Dolphins to a 20-13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The Miami signal-caller completed 28-of-39 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Excelling in the backfield was Brian Robinson Jr. The second-year tailback rushed for 73 yards on 17 carries while adding seven catches and 58 yards receiving in a divisional matchup with the New York Giants.
On the defensive side of the ball, Jonathan Allen and the Washington Commanders squared off with Xavier McKinney and the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon. McKinney excelled in a head-to-head matchup, tallying a career-high 12 tackles, including one for loss, and adding a fumble recovery in the Giants' 31-19 victory. For Washington, Allen registered two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks as part of his four total tackles to go with a pair of quarterback pressures.
Former Tide defensive backs also stood out in Week 11. Brian Branch racked up six tackles, three of which were for loss, to go with one pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in Detroit's win. Also shining on the back end was safety Jordan Battle. The rookie registered a career-high 12 tackles for the Cincinnati Bengals in a primetime contest against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football.
