TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 8 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
Jalen Hurts shined in Philadelphia's road matchup with the Washington Commanders. The veteran signal-caller completed 29-of-38 passes for 319 yards and four touchdowns in the Eagles' 38-31 divisional win. Hurts tied his season-high total for passing yards, while tossing touchdowns to former Crimson Tide wideouts DeVonta Smith and Julio Jones to help Philly improve to 7-1 on the year.
Smith excelled for the Eagles with seven receptions for 99 yards and one score. Also posting an impressive effort at wideout was Jaylen Waddle of the Miami Dolphins. Waddle recorded seven catches for a season-high 121 yards to go with a touchdown in the Dolphins' 31-17 win over Mac Jones and the New England Patriots.
Rounding out the offensive group was running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who shined in the Detroit Lions' 26-14 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football. Gibbs carried 26 times for 152 yards and a touchdown while adding five receptions for 37 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, C.J. Mosley and Quinnen Williams continued their dominant play for the New York Jets. Mosley totaled 12 tackles, including half a sack, while adding one pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in a thrilling, 20-13 overtime win against the New York Giants. Williams contributed eight total tackles, including one for loss, to go with a quarterback hurry in the inner-state showdown.
A pair of Patriot defenders excelled up front in New England's matchup against Miami on Sunday. Christian Barmore registered five tackles, one sack and a quarterback hurry, while linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. totaled seven tackles, five of which were solo, and added one tackle for loss in the AFC East pairing.
