Former Alabama players make an impact in Week 7 of the NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 7 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
Sunday Night Football featured two former Alabama quarterbacks. Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles and Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins squared off for the prime time matchup. Hurts came out on top thanks to a standout performance that saw him complete 23-of-31 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 11 rushes for 21 yards and a score in the Eagles' 31-17 victory. Fellow signal-caller Mac Jones completed 25-of-30 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns to lead the New England Patriots to a thrilling 29-25 victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Running back Jahmyr Gibbs returned to the field for the Lions after a brief absence. The Detroit rookie rushed 11 times for 68 yards and his first career touchdown to go with nine receptions for 58 yards. Rounding out the offensive group was Jerry Jeudy. The Denver wideout caught five passes for 64 yards to help the Broncos secure a 19-17 win over the Green Bay Packers.
The defensive side of the ball was highlighted by Anfernee Jennings. The New England linebacker totaled six tackles, five of which were solo stops, and added one tackle for loss in the Pats' victory. Veteran Jarran Reed provided a consistent push from his interior line post on Sunday. Reed notched a pair of tackles, including one sack, and pressured the quarterback once to lead the Seattle Seahawks to a 20-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Minkah Fitzpatrick shined in the Steelers' 24-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Fitzpatrick led the Pittsburgh defense with 11 tackles, six of which were solo stops, in the road victory. Rounding out the defensive group was Daron Payne of the Washington Commanders. Payne registered four tackles, including one tackle for loss, in addition to a forced fumble and one fumble recovery against the New York Giants.
