Downs Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week

Downs finished with a career-high 13 tackles to go with his first interception as a member of the Crimson Tide

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama safety Caleb Downs was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The weekly conference honor is the second for Downs and the Tide's fourth this season. He was also selected as Freshman of the Week following the Middle Tennessee matchup.

Downs was everywhere in the Crimson Tide's win at Mississippi State
Led the Crimson Tide in production points while helping hold the Bulldogs to just 261 total yards
Posted a career-high 13 tackles with five solo stops
Recorded his first career interception and was credited with another pass breakup by the Tide coaching staff
