Reyes Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

The Hermann Trophy is the highest individual honor awarded in intercollegiate soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Alabama soccer team's Reyna Reyes was named to the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, it was announced Thursday. The selection comes on the heels of a standout junior season during which the Crimson Tide defender/midfielder earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team and First Team All-Southeastern Conference honors.
The Hermann Trophy is the highest individual honor awarded in intercollegiate soccer and is given to the best individual male and female player, as voted on by NCAA Division I soccer coaches and announced by the United Soccer Coaches and Missouri Athletic Club (MAC).
Reyna Reyes
- Earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region First-Team honors, the third player in UA history to be named a first-team honoree and first player in program history to be named an all-region selection three times
- United States Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team, third UA player to receive the academic accolade and the first since 2001
- All-SEC First Team honoree
- Played and started in 20 games, missing just two competitions to train with the Mexican National Team
- Ranked second on the team after scoring the game-winning goal against Jacksonville State and then-No. 24 LSU
- Led the defense last season, helping the Crimson Tide record six shoutouts, including holding then-No. 19 Auburn, then-No. 24 LSU and NCAA Tournament opponent Clemson scoreless
- This season she was named to the United Soccer Coaches Players To Watch Defenders list and the SEC Preseason Watch List
The MAC Hermann Trophy
- Reyes is one of 60 players named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List
- The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches
- 15 female players will be named Hermann Trophy semifinalists on Nov. 30 following completion of Division I All-America voting
- On Dec. 7, the top three players from a final round of voting will be named the 2022 finalists
- The 2022 winner is revealed on Jan. 6, 2023, at a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
