2022-23 Season Gets Underway this Week
Hard to believe another season is just around the corner as we get the 2022-23 campaign started later this week. Our soccer team, on the heels of a 3-1 exhibition victory over Vanderbilt, travels to South Florida to take on Florida Atlantic on Thursday evening followed by a Sunday match at Miami. Both soccer and volleyball are in action at home next week with soccer taking on Southern Miss on Thursday, August 25 and Clemson on Sunday, August 28, while volleyball hosts McNeese, UTSA and Southern Miss in the Crimson Tide Invitational Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27.
Football kicks off its 2022 season on Saturday, September 3, hosting Utah State in Bryant-Denny Stadium under the lights. Additionally, cross country, men's and women's golf and men's and women's tennis will all begin the fall portion of their respective seasons in September.
Men's Basketball Returns from Foreign Tour
Our men's basketball team returned yesterday from its 10-day trip to Barcelona and Paris where the team went 3-0 against international competition. Lots of great photos, videos, game recaps and more can be found in the #RollingThroughEurope Tour Blog.
Classroom Champions
Congratulations to our latest graduates, with 20 student-athletes earning degrees this summer, bumping our 2021-22 total to 139. We also led the Southeastern Conference with 107 on the SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll and were second with 132 on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll. Other academic highlights include 13 gymnasts earning WCGA Scholastic All-America honors, Darcy Jennings being named the Big 12 Rowing Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year and 28 swimmers and divers coming away with CSCAA Scholar All-America honors.
SEC Leadership Council Meetings
We're proud of our student-athletes who represented us at this summer's SEC Leadership Council meetings, including Hannah Barber (women's basketball), Adam Cottrell (men's basketball), Jace Jones (track and field/cross country), Jalen Milroe (football) and Sydney Orefice (women's tennis). All were outstanding ambassadors during the two days of discussions about the variety of issues facing today's student-athletes.
Medal After Medal for the Crimson Tide
Track and field, swimming and diving and softball all had big summers when it came to national and international competition. Track and field saw a number of student-athletes medal at the USA Championships, the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games, while Haylie McCleney and Montana Fouts led Team USA to softball gold at the World Games. We also had swimmers medal at the World Championships and the USA Championships.
Gameday Staffing Opportunities
We are continuing to select new event staff members for the 2022 season to assist us with providing the best gameday experience possible through a variety of roles and responsibilities. Online applications are available and open positions include gate operations, ushers, guest services, event security, hospitality, kitchen support staff and servers.
Limited Tickets Still Available for Nick at Noon
A limited number of tickets are available for three of the four Nick at Noon luncheons this fall. The Oct. 7 date is completely sold out, while Sept. 2, Sept. 23 and Oct. 21 still remain. Tickets include lunch and remarks from Coach Saban.
Thank You, Donors
We are exceedingly grateful to the 4,842 donors who chose to support Alabama Athletics this past fiscal year with a philanthropic contribution to the Crimson Tide Foundation. Each gift, regardless of donation amount, is critical to our ability to provide the resources necessary for our teams to compete at the highest levels. Your commitment and generosity are felt every day by our student-athletes, coaches and staff and we thank you. For more information about the Crimson Tide Foundation or to make a contribution, please visit uactf.org.
September 1 Tide Totals Deadline
The September 1 Tide Totals priority points calculation deadline is quickly approaching. You can support the education of our student-athletes while earning Tide Totals priority points by donating to the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund (CTSF). The CTSF provides annual scholarship support for our student-athletes, offsetting the costs of tuition, educational fees, books, and room and board. Donors to the CTSF earn three Tide Totals points per $100 donated. Donate here.
University Spotlight
Congratulations to Amy and Ethan Haines, the mother-son duo who earned master's degrees on August 6. Their paths to graduation may have looked different, but what a special moment to get to share together!
#RollTideFriday
We're starting off this year's #RollTideFriday photos with a pair from Alaska. First, we have Ross Steelman and family and secondly, we have a submission from Susan West in Denali.
