Alabama Welcomes Vanderbilt Saturday for Exhibition Game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team hosts Vanderbilt Saturday in an exhibition game. The game is set to kick off at 6 p.m. CT at the Alabama Soccer Stadium.

Scouting Alabama
- The Crimson Tide is looking to make a strong start to the season after returning all of its starters and 80 percent of its roster from last year
- Leading goal-scorers Ashlynn Serepca and Kate Henderson are amongst the returners. Both tallied five goals last season, while Serepca also paced the team in points with 13 and Henderson ranked second with 12.
- Starting goalkeeper McKinley Crone enters the season ranked fifth all-time in career shutouts (11) and ninth in career saves (148)
- Crone held six teams scoreless throughout the year including then-No. 19 Auburn and then-No. 24 LSU as well as Clemson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament
- Reyna Reyes was recognized for her defensive contributions during the 2021 season, being selected for United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team and First Team All-SEC, in addition to earning Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors twice and TopDrawSoccer Team of the Week honors following the team's win at Clemson
- After missing a season and a half due to an injury, Riley Mattingly Parker makes her anticipated return to the pitch. The season prior to her injury in 2019, she ranked second on the team in both goals (5) and points (11).
- UA adds seven new faces to the squad in graduate transfer goalkeeper Dylan Pixton, senior transfer defender Marianna Annest and freshmen Ellie Lanyi, Sydney Japic, Gianna Paul, Kaydence Ramirez and Maria Vanore
Coming Off A Strong Year
- Alabama recorded one of its best seasons in program history last year
- The team captured its first-ever NCAA Tournament win with a 1-0 victory over Clemson in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament
- Additionally, the Tide defeated two ranked Southeastern Conference foes in then-No. 19 Auburn and then-No. 24 LSU
- Alabama lost just two games at home, including taking the then-No. 6 team in the country, TCU, into overtime for a 10-2 home record
- The 10 wins at the Alabama Soccer Stadium set a program record for most home wins in a single season
A Look At Vanderbilt
- The Commodores will compete in their second exhibition game of 2022 Saturday after recording a 0-0 draw against UAB Monday
- The team returns First Team All-SEC and United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Third Team selection Raegan Kelley, who netted eight goals and three assists last season for 19 points last season
- Vanderbilt finished the 2021 season with an 8-8-3 record, capping the year in the first round of the SEC Tournament with a penalty kick shootout loss to Florida
