
Alabama’s JD Davison Selected in the 2022 NBA Draft Thursday Night

Davison chosen by the Boston Celtics with the 53rd overall pick, giving the Tide its fourth NBA Draft pick in the last three years
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Former Alabama men's basketball standout JD Davison was chosen by the Boston Celtics with the 23rd pick in the second round (No. 53 overall) of the 2022 NBA Draft Thursday night at the Barclays Center.
After having only one draft pick from 2009-2019, Davison's selection gives the Crimson Tide four players selected across the last three NBA Drafts, the most in a three-year stretch since having six selected from 1985-87.

- Davison became the 46th Alabama player to hear their name called on draft night
- In three seasons under head coach Nate Oats, the Crimson Tide has had four draft picks – the best three-year stretch in terms of NBA Draft picks in 35 years

- Saw action in all 33 contests, making six starts
- Earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team, becoming the sixth consecutive UA player to earn the accolade
- Finished the season leading the team with 4.3 assists per game, while ranking second in steals (1.0 spg), third in rebounding (4.8 rpg) and fourth in scoring (8.5 ppg)
- Ranked seventh in the league in total assists (143) and assists per game
- Had 13 games in which he scored double figures and a team-leading 18 times that he led the UA in assists during a contest
- Was twice named the SEC Freshman of the Week
- Earned his first weekly honor the week of Dec. 6, following UA's win over then-No. 3 Gonzaga (12/4), finishing the contest with a season-high 20 points while also adding five rebounds and three assists
- Was also named the league's rookie of the week for the week of Feb. 14 when he averaged 14.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game in a pair of league wins over Ole Miss and Arkansas
