
Alabama Men’s Basketball will Square Off Against Oklahoma in the Annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge

The Crimson Tide and Sooners will meet for the third time in the last six years in the Challenge
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama men's basketball team will travel to Norman, Okla., to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in the 10th annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge, the Southeastern Conference announced Thursday.
It will mark the 10th meeting between the Crimson Tide and Sooners in series history and the third time in the last six years of the Challenge, when the two teams meet on January 28, 2023. Television designations and tipoff times will be announced at a later date.
Facing The Challenge
- Alabama will make its seventh appearance in the annual event
- The two teams have met nine previous times with Oklahoma leading the series 6-3
- The teams have met twice in SEC/Big 12 Challenge history with UA taking an 80-73 decision on Jan. 27, 2018 and OU winning 66-61 on Jan. 30, 2021
- Alabama holds a 4-2 record in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, topping Texas Tech, 74-64, in 2013, then-ranked No. 12 Oklahoma, 80-73, in 2018, Kansas State, 77-74, in 2020 and then-No.4 Baylor, 87-78 a year ago
- The Crimson Tide suffered a heartbreaking loss to then-No. 24 Oklahoma in 2021's Challenge, falling to the Sooners 66-61 on Jan. 30, 2021
- Alabama holds a 4-0 record when playing at home at Coleman Coliseum
