The Tigers secured the series-clinching with on Sunday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball suffered a 12-3 loss to 19th-ranked LSU on Sunday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Tigers clinched the series with the win, while the Crimson Tide moved to 26-22 overall and 10-14 in Southeastern Conference play.
LSU gained the early advantage with a three-run first. The Tide countered with one run in the first before both teams went scoreless until the fifth. LSU added three in that fifth to go with three apiece in the seventh and eighth to put the game out of reach. Alabama plated one in the seventh on a Caden Rose solo home run and added one more in the ninth on a pinch-hit homer from Eric Foggo for the 12-3 final.
The win went to LSU reliever Jacob Hasty (2-0) while the loss was handed to Grayson Hitt (4-3).
From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"I knew this was going to be a challenge today. When it gets hot, our park plays really offensively, and LSU is a great hitting team. Grayson (Hitt) wasn't sharp out of the gate today, gave them some freebies in the first, and they capitalized on it. I liked the way we responded in the bottom of the first to come back and answer. Grayson then did a good job of settling in after that, putting up three zeroes and pitching through some traffic. When they hit the home run in the fifth, though, it was a pretty big dagger, and then it got away from us a little bit late. We'll take the afternoon off and get back to practice tomorrow. We need to win a game on Tuesday going into a big rivalry weekend at Auburn next weekend."
