
Alabama Track and Field Picks Up Wins at Both the Joe Walker and Joe May Invitationals

The Crimson Tide split its squads on Saturday on the way to earning wins in both Oxford, Miss., and Baton Rouge, La.
BATON ROUGE, La./OXFORD, Miss. – Split across a pair of meets, Alabama track and field tallied a trio of wins and 30 top-10 finishes on Saturday.
Alabama posted 22 top-10 finishes at the Joe May Invitational in Baton Rouge, La., led by Julian Collins' big 8.05-meter effort to win the men's long jump. Collins' effort ranks him third all-time for the Tide.
The Crimson Tide came away with eight top-10 finishes on day two of the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford, Miss., including a 1-2-3 sweep in the men's discus, with Alan de Falchi going 58.42 meters for the win, and a 1-2-4 finish in the men's shot put, led by Isaac Odugbesan's 19.31 meters for the win. Falchi's winning mark ranks him ninth all-time for Alabama.
Joe May Invitational Highlights
- Corde Long ran a 13.82 to take third in the men's 110-meter hurdles while Clayton Elder finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a 51.97
- Long's 13.82 in the 110-meter hurdels ranks him seventh all-time at UA
- Leander Forbes (45.85) and Khaleb McRae (45.95) went 3-4 in the men's 400 meters
- McRae, Forbes, Long and Gabe Serrano went 3:05.42 to finish third in the 4x400-meter relays, which ranks them 10th all-time for Alabama
- Amari Brown took fourth in the 200 meters (23.43) and sixth in the 100 meters (11.40)
- Brown's 11.40 in the 100 meters ranks her 10th all-time at Alabama
- Louis Martinez (5.11m) took fourth and Cross Derriso (4.96m) was eighth in the men's pole vault
- Sydney Milani (1:00.04) was fourth and Lea Duben (1:03.77) was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles
- Amara Obi took fifth in the 400 meters (54.10)
- Obi, Brown, Chanice Spicer and Milani ran a 3:38.17 to finish fourth in the 4x400-meter relay
- Ayla Stanisclaus, Brown, Na'Taja Ballard and Obi posted a 43.87 to take fifth in the 4x100-meter relay
- Josh Thomas, Tarsis Orogot, Mason Phillips and Long combined to go 39.85 in the men's 4x100-meter relay, taking sixth
- Taylor Pickett (3.86m) and Alexis Rickenbacher (3.71m) finished sixth and ninth, respectively, in the women's pole vault
- Phillips finished ninth in the men's 100 meters with a time of 10.47
- Aysia Ward (5.46m) and Camille Kohtala (5.43m) finished ninth and 10th, respectively, in the long jump
Joe Walker Invitational Saturday Highlights
- Jerimiah Evans (56.38m) and Chago Basso (56.33m) took second and third in the men's discus, while Josiah Harry (47.29m) finished 10th
- Basso (19.00m) and Evans (18.04m) finished second and fourth in the men's shot put, while Nathan Cooper (16.72m) was ninth
- Mark Shannon, Ryan Maseman, Eliud Kipsang and Grady Shiflet combined to take second in the men's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:20.94
- Nickolette Dunbar took sixth place in the women's shot put with a throw of 15.92 meters
