Alabama Track and Field Set for a Trio of Meets This Weekend

The Crimson Tide distance corps is once again heading west, competing in California, while the rest of the UA contingent will travel south to Gainesville, Fla.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track and field team is set for a trio of meets this weekend, with its distance corps heading west to the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Southern California while the rest of the Crimson Tide competing this weekend is headed to Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Memorial.
The Bryan Clay Invitational is held at Cougar Stadium in Azusa, Calif., while the Mt. SAC Relays are held in Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. The Tom Jones Memorial marks Alabama's second trip to Gainesville, Fla., and Pressly Stadium this outdoor season.
Alabama in the National Top-20
- Leander Forbes is ranked eighth nationally in the 400 meters after running a 45.85 this past weekend, while Khaleb McRae is 12th after posting a 45.94 at the same meet
- Victor Kiprop is ranked third in the 10,000 meters after going 28:15.72, the second-fastest time in school history in his first collegiate 10k
- Isaac Odugbesan is ninth nationally in the shot put after throwing 19.31 meters last weekend, while Chago Basso is 16th with a toss of 19.00 meters in the same meet
- Bobby Colantonio Jr. (eighth) and Kiean McKeag (ninth) are both in the top-10 nationally in the hammer throw after career-best marks to open the 2022 season
- The women's 4x100-meter relay of Ayla Stanisclaus, Amari Brown, Na'Taja Ballard and Amara Obi ranks 13th with a 43.87 last weekend
- Alan de Falchi is 16th in the discus after posting a throw of 58.42 meters last weekend
- The men's 4x400-meter relay of McRae, Forbes, Long and Gabe Serrano is ranked 17th after posting a 3:05.42 last weekend
