
Alabama Swimming and Diving’s Rhyan White Wins San Antonio Pro Series 200 Backstroke Title

White was one of three Crimson Tide swimmers to reach a championship final of the TYR Pro Series’ San Antonio stop
SAN ANTONIO - Just two weeks after helping lead Alabama to a program-best fourth-place finish at the 2022 Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, a trio of UA women enjoyed a big weekend at the TYR Pro Series in San Antonio, Texas.
U.S. Olympian, World Champion and All-American Rhyan White led the way for the Crimson Tide, winning the 200-meter backstroke over fellow Olympian Phoebe Bacon by more than a second and a half, turning in a 2:07.92 in the championship final, which ranks her third in the world in 2022. In addition, White took second in the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 1:00.05, while also winning the consolation final of the 100-meter butterfly (1:00.07) and taking ninth place overall.
Olympian, World Championships competitor and All-American Diana Petkova earned spots in the championship finals of the 200-meter individual medley (2:16.11), where she took fourth, and in the 50-meter freestyle (25.56), where she finished sixth.
Olympian, World Championships competitor and All-American Kalia Antoniou took fourth in the 50-meter freestyle, turning in a 25.25 in finals. She also took ninth overall in the 100-meter freestyle after winning the B final with a 55.03.
