
Alabama Swimming & Diving Earns SEC Yearly and All-Conference Honors

Morgan Scott was named the SEC Female Swimmer of the Year and Mohammed Farouk was tabbed as the SEC Male Freshman Diver of the Year by a vote of the league’s coaches
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama's Morgan Scott was voted the Southeastern Conference Female Swimmer of the Year, while Mohamed Farouk was tabbed the SEC Male Freshman Diver of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday.
Scott led the Crimson Tide women to the highest national finish in program history, a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, while earning seven All-America honors. She also won six SEC Championships in seven swims at the 2022 SEC Championships.
Farouk qualified to the NCAA Championships in all three diving events and finaled off the 1-meter springboard and the platform at the SEC Championships, standing as the highest finishing freshman in both events.
This year's accolades mark the second year in a row that Alabama has earned SEC Female Swimmer of the Year recognition, following Rhyan White in 2021. It is also the second time in three years that a Crimson Tide diver has been named freshman of the year, with Tanesha Lucoe earning the women's distinction in 2020.
The conference office also released its All-SEC lists on Wednesday, with the Crimson Tide ranking third with 18 overall honors, first in women's first-team accolades with eight and second in combined men's and women's first-team honors with nine.
Kalia Antoniou, Cora Dupre, Tanesha Lucoe, Derek Maas, Diana Petkova, Scott, White, Avery Wiseman and Kailyn Winter all earned First Team All-SEC recognition. Kaique Alves, Jonathan Berneburg, Kensey McMahon, Matthew Menke and Tyler Sesvold were named to the second team.
Kaique Alves, Charlie Hawke, Linus Kahl and Wiseman all earned a place on the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Morgan Scott, 2022 SEC Female Swimmer of the Year
- Posted the SEC's highest individual finish at the 2022 NCAA Championships with a silver medal in the 100 freestyle with a school record 46.78 (first UA woman under 47.00 seconds)
- One of three SEC swimmers to earn a top-three individual finish at the NCAA Championships in 2022, joining teammates Rhyan White (200 backstroke) and Kensey McMahon (1,650 freestyle)
- Earned silver as part of the Tide's 200 freestyle relay and bronze as part of the Tide's school-record setting 400 freestyle relay (3:09.07) at the NCAA Championships
- Top SEC finisher in the 50 freestyle at the NCAA Championships, taking fourth with a school-record 21.43
- Finished 2022 ranked third nationally in the 100 freestyle, fourth nationally in the 50 freestyle and was No. 1 in the SEC in both
- Led Alabama to top-six finishes in the 200 and 400 medley relays and 200 and 400 freestyle relays at the NCAA Championships
- Scott was the top SEC finisher in both her individual events and as part of four of the five relays she swam at the NCAA Championships
- School record holder in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles and as part of all five relays
- Took gold at the SEC Championships in the 50 and 100 freestyles and as part of the Tide's 200 and 400 medley relays and 200 and 400 freestyle relays
- Set the SEC and SEC Championships record as part of the Tide's 200 medley relay
- Bettered the SEC record and set the SEC Championships record as part of the Tide's 400 medley relay
Mohamed Farouk, 2022 SEC Male Freshman Diver of the Year
- Qualified for the NCAA Championships in all three diving events as a rookie and finished 19th off the platform at the NCAA Championships despite a foot injury that occurred during warmups for the 3-meter springboard the day before
- Only SEC freshman to finish among the top-25 off the platform at the NCAA Championships
- Reached the championship finals of the 1-meter springboard at the SEC Championships, taking fifth as the top freshman finisher
- Took fifth off the platform at the SEC Championships where he was the top freshman finisher
- Scored off the 3-meter at the SEC Championships taking 14th
- Finaled off the platform at the 2021 FINA World Junior Diving Championships in Kyiv, Ukraine, in December
