ATLANTA, Ga. – Alabama swimming and diving's Tanesha Lucoe earned an NCAA Championships berth off the women's platform at the NCAA Zone B Championships on Tuesday, which are being held at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga., on the Georgia Tech campus this week.
Lucoe tallied 560.65 points over the course of 10 dives (five in prelims and five in finals) to take fifth place overall. A two-time Southeastern Conference Champion off the platform and a three-time SEC medalist, Tuesday marked the third-year in a row that she has earned a spot at the NCAA Championships in the platform.
On the men's side of the slate, Mohamed Farouk earned a spot at the NCAA Championships off the 3-meter springboard after garnering an NCAA berth in 1-meter on Tuesday. Farouk also has a chance to earn a slot in the men's platform competition on Wednesday.
Farouk was 19th after prelims of the 3-meter springboard, one spot outside of finals, but when teammate Kevin Li, who made finals by finishing 17th with 330.30 points over his first six dives, scratched, Farouk rose a spot into finals, giving him a chance to compete for one of the 11 spots out of Zone B on the 3-meter board.
Farouk made the most out of his finals appearance, jumping seven spots over the course of his last six dives to finish 11th, and adding another event to his NCAA Championships schedule. Hunter Jaynes also competed off the 3-meter, taking 29th place after prelims with 284.15 points.
