Alabama Opens SEC Action Friday At No. 9 Kentucky

The Crimson Tide faces Kentucky on the road at 4 p.m. CT on Friday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– Alabama men's tennis (4-8) opens Southeastern Conference action Friday as the team travels to Lexington, Ky., to face the No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats (9-2). First serve between the two teams is at 4 p.m. CT at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center.

- The match will be part of Cracked Racquets' Redzone Broadcast of SEC competition
- The broadcast is set to run for Friday SEC and non-conference matchups throughout the regular season
- In conjunction with the live broadcasts of matches, Cracked Racquets will produce a weekly SEC focused show to highlight upcoming events and recap matches from the week prior

- This is the second meeting between Alabama and Kentucky this season as the then-No. 11 Wildcats came away with a 4-0 win in the opening round of the 2022 ITA Kickoff
- Alabama leads the overall series 27-26-1
- Prior to the ITA Kickoff Weekend, the two teams last met during the 2021 regular season
- UA recorded a win in that meeting against the then-No. 19 Wildcats, battling back from match point on court one to clinch the doubles win before splitting singles 3-3

- Planinsek holds a 7-4 dual record at the top of the order as Aguiard is 8-3 in dual competition and 5-2 at the No. 2 spot
- In doubles play, Planinsek and partner German Samofalov are 5-3 at No. 1 doubles this season, while Aguiard and Ferreira are 6-3 overall and 5-3 at the No. 2 doubles spot
The Wildcats
- Kentucky enters conference play ranked No. 9 nationally with a 9-3 record
- The Wildcats are coming off a recent loss at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor Team Championships
- The Wildcats advanced to the Elite Eight where the team fell a 4-3 to second-seeded Baylor before dropping a 4-1 match to 11th-seeded South Carolina
- In singles, Gabriel Diallo is ranked ninth, Fancois Musitelli is 69th and Joshua Lapadat is 90th
- Liam Draxl and Millen Hurrion are ranked 26th in doubles play
