The Crimson Tide went into a third set on five of six singles courts

STARKVILLE, Miss. –– The Alabama men's tennis team saw five of six singles matches head into a third set as the team faced Mississippi State on the road Friday at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. Despite the tight battle, the Bulldogs would go on to win four singles courts after clinching the doubles point for a 5-0 victory.

The Match

Alabama (5-13, 0-5 SEC) split the opening two doubles matches with the Bulldogs (12-8, 2-5 SEC) with the Tide picking up a 6-3 win from Enzo Aguiard and Joao Ferreira on court three while MSU went 6-3 on court two
After a back-and-forth battle at the No. 1 spot, Mississippi State secured a 6-4 win for the doubles point
Five of six singles courts would head into a third set as the Tide and Bulldogs fought for control
MSU, however, recorded wins at Nos. 5, 1, 3 and 2, respectively, for the team victory
Despite the loss, Filip Planinsek battled No. 39 ranked Florian Broska into a third set tiebreaker (3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4))
When the match was clinched, Zach Foster was tied 4-4 in a third set against Davide Tortora on court six while Juan Martin was trailing 5-6 in the second set against Gregor Ramskogler after winning his first set 7-5

Alabama will play a doubleheader on Sunday against Vanderbilt and Tennessee State
Both matches will be played at Vanderbilt's Curry Tennis Center with the Tide's match against the Commodores starting at noon CT while its match against the Tigers begins at 5 p.m. CT
