ATLANTA – The Alabama women's swimming and diving team continued to roll on day three of the NCAA Championships being held in Atlanta at the McAuley Aquatic Center this week. The Crimson Tide finished day three of the four-day championships in fifth place with 177 points, just 26 points out of fourth.
Rhyan White and Alabama's 400 medley relay both made it to the podium, while Avery Wiseman scored in the 100 breaststroke.
White, Wiseman, Morgan Scott and Cora Dupre combined to post a 3:27.30 in the finals of the 400 medley relay, taking sixth place, moving up two spots from the same race a year ago.
Earlier in the evening, White finished fourth in arguably the fastest 100 backstroke final in swimming history with a time of 50.34, while also scoring in the 100 butterfly, taking 10th place with a time of 50.85. Wiseman won the B final of the 100 breaststroke, taking ninth overall, with a time of 58.19.
Alabama Head Coach Margo Geer Said
"We just keep rolling in what is one of the fastest meets I've ever been a part of. We're so proud of the way Rhyan and Avery competed tonight and then for to come back with Morgan and Cora to make another podium finish in the 400 medley relay was great to see. Tomorrow we've got a lot of opportunities for second swims and we're excited to see Tanesha (Lucoe) step up in the platform. We're looking to come out strong in the morning and set ourselves up for a big final night."
