The Crimson Tide returns to action on Sunday to face No. 25 Auburn on the road

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama men's tennis team (4-10, 0-2 SEC) battled in a tough 6-1 loss to the No. 20 Ole Miss Rebels (11-4, 1-1 SEC) Friday night in a match that saw eight sets go into a tiebreak.

Juan Martin led the Crimson Tide, capturing a two-set win on court five which included a second set tiebreaker. He defeated Simon Junk at the singles spot, going 6-0, 7-6 (6) for the win. Additionally, courts one and two in doubles play would force a tiebreaker as five of the six singles courts had at least one 7-6 set score.

The Match

Ole Miss captured the doubles point to start the match with a 1-0 advantage
The Rebels took a 6-3 victory on court three before battling through a tiebreaker on court two to clinch the point with a 7-6 (4) score
In singles, Ole Miss followed with wins on courts four and three, respectively, but Martin's two-set victory at the No. 5 spot made the score 3-1
Martin posted a dominate 6-0 score in the opening set before battling through a tiebreak in set two. The UA graduate student rallied at the end of the tiebreaker to secure the win at 7-6 (6).
The Rebels, however, would record the next point, winning at court two for the team victory
Alabama forced a tiebreaker at courts one and two in doubles play, while five of the six singles courts battled through at least one set tiebreaker
Additionally, Zach Foster saw back-to-back tiebreaker sets, dropping the first set 7-6 (4) before going 7-6 (5) in the second set to even the match. Foster traded points in the final set before falling 1-0 (10).

Alabama travels to No. 25 Auburn Sunday to face the Tigers in a 1 p.m. CT match at the Yarbrough Tennis Center
