
Alabama Track & Field Breaks Two School Records, Wins Nine Events on Day Two of the Charlie Thomas Invitational

The Crimson Tide also broke a pair of meet records on the second and final day of the meet in Bryan-College Station, Texas, site of the 2022 SEC Championships
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Alabama track & field teams won nine events, set two school records and two meet records on the second and final day of the Charlie Thomas Invitational at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium, on Saturday.
Isaac Odugbesan won the men's shot put with a throw of 20.59 meters, bettering his own school record, while Chelsea Igberaese bettered the school mark in the women's weight throw for the third time this season with a toss of 21.88 meters.
Eliud Kipsang won the men's mile in a time of 3:56.70, setting a new meet record in the process. Bobby Colantonio Jr. also set a meet record with a winning throw of 22.88 meters in the men's weight throw.
Day Two Top-10 Finishes at the at the Charlie Thomas Invitational
- Isaac Odugbesan's school-record toss of 20.59 meters led a 1-2-3-5 run for the Tide in the men's shot put, followed by Chago Basso (18.26m), Jerimiah Evans (18.11m) and Alan de Falchi (17.66m)
- Chelsea Igberaese broke the school weight throw record for the third time this season with a toss of 21.88 meters, becoming the first UA woman to go over 21 meters
- Eliud Kipsang (3:56.70), Jace Jones (4:06.12) and Arthur Graham (4:15.35) finished first, fourth and 10th in the men's mile, with Kipsang setting a new meet record on the way to the win
- Bobby Colantonio Jr. (22.88m) and Kieran McKeag (21.08m) earned the top-two spots in the men's weight throw, with Colantonio Jr. setting a new meet record
- Hillary Cheruiyot (7:58.83), Kipsang (8:10.93), Jacob Wiggers (8:21.58) and Carson Burian (8:25.82) finished 1-2-6-8 in the 3,000 meters
- Leander Forbes (46.56) and Khaleb McRae (46.88) finished first and second in the men's 400 meters, while Gabe Serrano (47.50) took ninth
- Nickolette Dunbar won the women's shot put with a throw of 16.68 meters
- Emmanuel Ineh (7.63m), Quincy Scott (7.32m) and Julian Collins (7.13m) finished first, third and sixth in the men's long jump
- Cheruiyot (7:58.83) and Kipsang (8:10.93) went one-two in the 3,000 meters, while Jacob Wiggers (8:21.58) and Carson Burian (8:25.82) followed close behind, taking sixth and eighth, respectively
- Jami Reed took second in the women's 3,000 meters after running a 9:24.78
- Christian Edwards was third in the men's high jump after clearing 2.15 meters
- Flomena Asekol turned in a 2:07.55 to finish third in the women's 800 meters
- Amari Brown raced to a 7.43 in the 60 meters to take 4th place
- Jacob Lamb (1:52.79) and Mark Shannon (1:54.39) finish fourth and 10th, respectively, in the men's 800 meters
- Brown (23.81) and Amara Obi (23.85) finished sixth and seventh in the women's 200 meters
- Macy Schelp (4:54.28) and Sophie Spada (4:56.74) took sixth and eighth in the women's mile
- Samantha Kunza took seventh in the women's weight throw with a toss of 17.73 meters
- Josh Thomas finished seventh in the men's 60 meters with a 6.89, while Mason Phillips was 10th with a time of 6.90
- Tarsis Orogot took seventh in the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.36
- Christal Mosley clocked a 55.53 to take 10th in the women's 400 meters
- Corde Long was 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.03
- Obi, Brown, Na'Taja Ballard and Chanice Spicer went 3:37.79 to take third in the women's 4x400-meter relay, while McRae, Long, Forbes and Serrano combined to take fourth in the men's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:08.37
