
Alabama Defeats Nebraska, Falls to Tulane on Final Day of Blue Gray

The Crimson Tide defeated the Huskers 4-1 after recording a 4-2 loss to Tulane earlier in the day
Montgomery, Ala. –– The Alabama men's tennis team (4-8) concluded the final day of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Saturday with a 4-2 win over Nebraska (3-8) after opening the day with a 4-1 loss to Tulane (4-6).
Alabama and Tulane played the doubles section of the match on Friday after a weather delay postponed action during the morning. The Green Wave posted a come-from-behind victory in doubles with wins on courts three and two, respectively, to start with a 1-0 lead.
Singles Play against Tulane
- Tulane opened the day with a 1-0 advantage after clinching the doubles point on Friday
- Enzo Aguiard kicked off the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Alex Bancila on court two to even the score at 1-1
- Zach Foster would follow with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court six moments later against Charlie Barry
- Tulane won three straight matches to clinch the point, winning on court five, one and four, respectively
The Match against Nebraska
- Nebraska secured the doubles point to take a 1-0 advantage in the match with wins on courts one and three
- Aguiard and Joao Ferreira posted a win in doubles play, going 6-4 on court two against Shunya Maruyama and Dario Huber
- A medical retirement on court six gave Alabama its first point, as Ferreira captured the second point with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Maruyama
- German Samofalov went 6-1, 6-2 against William Gleason on court three to move UA to match point
