The senior guard co-founded a University of Alabama registered club
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Megan Abrams, University of Alabama senior guard, has been named to the 2021-22 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.
It's been a been a busy year for the senior guard, between helping the Crimson Tide reach the 2021 SEC Tournament Quarterfinals and the 2021 NCAA Tournament Second Round, to spending last summer as a Procurement Analyst intern with Nike, then being selected to the 2021-22 SEC Women's Basketball Leadership Council, to earning her undergraduate degree in finance and economics last December.
Turning the page to 2022, her motor hasn't stopped.
Abrams co-founded a University of Alabama registered club, exclusive to Crimson Tide student-athletes, named Project I.D., which launched this month. The mission of Project I.D. is to create a safe space for student-athletes who identify with, or are allies for, minority groups, giving them the opportunity to voice their thoughts and ideas to create an inclusive student-athlete experience. Abrams and teammate, Jada Rice, have built the club from the ground up, including playing a key role in drafting the mission statement, creating a logo, marketing the organization and forming content for meetings.
In addition to serving her student-athlete community, Abrams has also donated time at the Catholic Social Services of West Alabama, Halloween Extravaganza, ReadBamaRead, Thank-A-Thon, VA Hospital, Alberta Head Start Reader and West Alabama Food Bank during her time at the Capstone.
Abrams is on a roll, not only off the court, but on the court as well.
The Louisiana native has score 20-plus points in her last three games, including tying a career here in Alabama's win against then-No. 12/8 Tennessee last Thursday with 27 points on 9-of-14 from the field, 2-of-4 from the arc and 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, she's grabbed a combined 17 rebounds across those three contests.
She is averaging 13.5 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game in conference action.
Adding to her successes, Abrams has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll every year at Alabama.
