
Alabama’s Bobby Colantonio Jr. Named SEC Field Athlete of the Week, Again

The Crimson Tide standout won his fourth weight throw title in as many outings this season last Friday at the LSU Twilight
BIRMIMGHAM, Ala. – Alabama junior Bobby Colantonio Jr., closed the indoor regular season with another huge effort in the weight throw to earn Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in 2022, the league office announced Tuesday.
Colantonio Jr. won the weight throw at the LSU Twilight with a mark of 23.70 meters, his fourth win of the season, with all four coming with a throw of 22.50 meters-or-better. Each of his winning efforts have been at least a meter better than the next best thrower in the SEC.
With the regular season in the books, Colantonio Jr. and his Crimson Tide teammates are headed for the SEC Championships this weekend, which will be held in College Station, Texas, Friday and Saturday.
