
Alabama Track & Field Competing at Three Different Meets to Close the Indoor Regular Season

The Crimson Tide will send a contingent to Fayetteville, Ark., Nashville, Tenn., and Boston, Mass.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama track & field is primed for its last weekend of the indoor regular season, sending competitors to three different meets
Tyson Invitational
- The majority of the Crimson Tide's contingent will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Tyson Invitational Feb. 11-12
- The Tide is sending 39 student-athletes to the meet, which opens on Friday at 2:15 p.m. CT
- Competition continues Saturday with Alabama jumping into action starting at 11:45 am. CT
David Hemery Valentine Invitational
- A portion of the women's distance corps will make its way north to run in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 11
- A total of four women will run in Boston on Friday
- The first event will get underway at 4 p.m. CT
Music City Challenge
- The Tide will also send members of the men's and women's middle distance and distance squads to Nashville, Tenn., for the Music City Challenge
- There will be 15 men and five women in Nashville, for a total of 20 competitors
- Competition begins on Friday starting at 5 p.m. CT, and runs into Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. CT
Last Time Out
- Alabama enjoyed a big weekend at the Charlie Thomas Invitational Feb. 4-5 in College Station, Texas, winning 11 events and setting two school records and three meet records
- Isaac Odugbesan's school-record toss of 20.59 meters led a 1-2-3-5 run for the Tide in the men's shot put, followed by Chago Basso (18.26m), Jerimiah Evans (18.11m) and Alan de Falchi (17.66m)
- Chelsea Igberaese broke the school weight throw record for the third time this season with a toss of 21.88 meters, becoming the first UA woman to go over 21 meters
- The Crimson Tide picked up a win in the women's distance medley relay, with Jami Reed, Margaret Conteh, Sophie Spada and Elka Machan combining to post a meet-record 11:25.56
- Eliud Kipsang (3:56.70), Jace Jones (4:06.12) and Arthur Graham (4:15.35) finished first, fourth and 10th in the men's mile, with Kipsang setting a new meet record on the way to the win
- Bobby Colantonio Jr. (22.88m) and Kieran McKeag (21.08m) earned the top-two spots in the men's weight throw, with Colantonio Jr. setting a new meet record
- Hillary Cheruiyot (7:58.83), Kipsang (8:10.93), Jacob Wiggers (8:21.58) and Carson Buri-an (8:25.82) finished 1-2-6-8 in the 3,000 meters
- Leander Forbes (46.56) and Khaleb McRae (46.88) finished first and second in the men's 400 meters, while Gabe Serrano (47.50) took ninth
- Nickolette Dunbar won the women's shot put with a throw of 16.68 meters
- Emmanuel Ineh (7.63m), Quincy Scott (7.32m) and Julian Collins (7.13m) finished first, third and sixth in the men's long jump
- Cheruiyot (7:58.83) and Kipsang (8:10.93) went one-two in the 3,000 meters, while Jacob Wiggers (8:21.58) and Carson Burian (8:25.82) followed close behind, taking sixth and eighth, respectively
- Jack Hawes (14:34.78) got the win in the men's 5,000 meters
Up Next
- With the regular season in the books, Alabama heads to the first round of the postseason with the Southeastern Conference Championships March 25-26
- The meet will be held in College Station, Texas, at Gilliam Indoor Stadium
- Alabama has already made the trip to College Station this season after a highly successful weekend at the Charlie Thomas Invitational
