Harris Uses Personal-Best Mark in Long Jump to Reach Podium on Second Day of NCAA Championships

Senior Caelyn Harris' initial personal-best mark of 6.60 meters propelled her into the final three rounds before improving to 6.65 meters on her fourth attempt
EUGENE, Ore. – Alabama track and field's Caelyn Harris highlighted the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a third-place finish in the long jump.
Sitting on two fouls with one attempt remaining, Harris soared 6.60 meters for a personal-best mark to advance to the final three rounds of the long jump. On her fourth attempt, Harris improved to 6.65 meters (21-10) to secure first-team All-America honors.
Additionally, two other Crimson Tide student-athletes earned All-America recognition. With her 12th-place finish (51.67 meters | 169-6), sophomore Ellie Partrick became one of only two underclassmen in the women's javelin to earn first- or second-team All-America honors, while Catalina Rodriguez's 63.12-meter throw (207-1) placed her 16th nationally.
On the track, Cynthia Jemutai advanced to Saturday's steeplechase final after clocking a prelim-leading and personal-best 9:38.49 – the second-fastest time in Alabama history.
