Alabama’s Kensey McMahon Earns Second SEC Swimmer of the Week Honor of the Season

The Crimson Tide distance swimmer won three individual events and broke two pool records to pace Alabama’s road win over LSU
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama distance ace Kensey McMahon was named the Southeastern Conference Swimmer of the Week after a dominant performance against the LSU Tigers last Friday, in Baton Rouge, La., the league office announced Tuesday.

- Kensey McMahon set pool records in the 1,000 freestyle (9:41.86) and 500 freestyle (4:46.15) and added a win in the 200 butterfly (1:56.97) to lead the Crimson Tide to another SEC road win
- McMahon's winning 200 butterfly time of 1:56.97 is a career-best mark and ranks her fifth all-time at UA, No. 1 in the SEC this season and No. 6 nationally.
- Her season-best 9:41.86 in the 1,000 freestyle ranks her No. 1 nationally, while her 4:46.15 ranks her seventh in the nation in the 500 freestyle
- The All-American currently has seven individual wins this season, all coming against SEC opponents
- This marks McMahon's second SEC Swimmer of the Week honor this season, after also earning the honor on Oct. 18 following the South Carolina meet
