Alabama Opens 2022-23 Season Against Alabama A&M

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball opens its 2022-23 season Monday, hosting Alabama A&M at Coleman Coliseum at 5 p.m. CT on SECNetwork+.

About the Tide
- Head Coach Kristy Curry begins her 10th season at the helm of the Alabama women's basketball team
- Alabama was picked to finish fourth by the league coaches for the 2022-23 season
- Guard Brittany Davis was named by Southeastern Conference coaches to the All-SEC First Team in addition to being a second-team selection by a from the media
- Davis paced the SEC in three-point field goals made (93) and three-point field goals per-game (2.74)
- The Crimson Tide returns all five starters from last season's 20-14 team that finished with a 6-10 record in SEC play
- The Tide went 2-1 in the SEC Tournament and was one of just three teams to win at least two games in Nashville
- UA finished the 2021-22 season with a 12-6 home record which included a 9-1 home mark in non-conference action
- The Tide finished last season having won seven of its final nine games, including four of their last six games
- Alabama returns seven players who contributed over 95 percent of the Crimson Tide's points from a year ago
- Included in the mix are graduate students Megan Abrams, Hannah Barber, Brittany Davis and Jada Rice as well as senior JaMya Mingo-Young
- In all, the five starters from last season scored 1,972 of the 2,431 total points (80 percent of the team's points)
- In addition to a strong core of returners, UA rounds out its roster with six newcomers including five transfers
- Megan Abrams reached the 1,000-point club and was also named to the SEC Community Service Team
About Alabama A&M
- Alabama A&M concluded last season with a 15-14 record, including a 4-8 mark in road contests and a 13-5 record in the SWAC
- Alabama A&M won seven of their last eight games, including a double overtime victory over Southern University to close out the regular season
- During the SWAC schedule, the Bulldogs shot 37.3 percent from the field and 27.4 percent from long range, while it averaged 59.6 points per game
- The team is coming off a record season that saw Alabama A&M capture seven straight wins to close the regular season
- The Bulldogs finished second in the SWAC with a 13-5 record, but fell in the tournament to Grambling in the quarterfinals
