The Crimson Tide wins 2-0 and 17-0 in a Sunday doubleheader
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball continued its fall slate Sunday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium with a doubleheader against Copiah-Lincoln, taking home a pair of 2-0 and 17-0 victories.
Alabama took home a 2-0 victory in a game one pitchers' duel, with a Jenna Johnson squeeze bunt to drive in Larissa Preuitt breaking the scoreless tie and Ally Shipman adding a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. Montana Fouts made her fall debut in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout with three hits allowed and 10 strikeouts.
The Tide didn't waste any time getting on the board in game two, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first including an RBI double from Ashley Prange and a three-run double from Bailey Dowling. Kali Heivilin sent the first pitch of the bottom of the second out of the park, making it 5-0 on the solo homer. Prange drove in her second RBI of the day later in the inning, as the two-out single made it 7-0. A pair of home runs from Abby Duchscherer and Heivilin in the third stretched the lead to double digits and Alabama kept it rolling in the fourth with seven more runs, which brought the game to its final total of 17-0.
