Former Alabama players make impact in Week 5 of the 2022 NFL Season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League wrapped up Week 5 of the 2022-23 regular season this past Monday. Below is a look at how former Alabama football players performed.
Raiders' running back Josh Jacobs put together a standout performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, rushing for a career-high 154 yards on Monday Night Football. Jacobs one-upped his previous career-best of 144 yards that he set a week prior and added a touchdown across 21 carries. He also tallied five receptions for 39 yards in Las Vegas' divisional matchup. Fellow running back Derrick Henry once again shined. The Titans' star carried the ball 28 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns while also reeling in a pair of catches for 30 yards in Tennessee's 21-17 victory over Washington.
Jalen Hurts continued his impressive start to the year, leading the Eagles to a victory and extending Philadelphia's winning streak to five games. Hurts completed 26 passes on 36 attempts for 239 yards while rushing 15 times for 61 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles' signal-caller accounted for both of Philly's touchdowns on the way to a 20-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Closing out the group of offensive standouts was wideout Amari Cooper. The veteran recorded 76 yards and a touchdown on seven receptions for the Cleveland Browns.
Defensive lineman Quinnen Williams made some noise for the Jets in their 40-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Williams totaled three tackles, including half a sack, to go with one quarterback hit and a forced fumble that set up an eventual touchdown. Teammate C.J. Mosley led New York in tackles with 10 stops, pushing his season total 51 to place him fourth on the league's list for total stops.
Cornerback Levi Wallace made a difference for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wallace recorded three tackles while defending a pair of passes and picking off one. Fellow corner Patrick Surtain II rounds out the defensive group, posting seven tackles while also forcing a fumble for the Denver Broncos. Surtain continues to impress in year two, grading out as one of the top corners in the NFL so far.
