
Alabama Point Guard Jahvon Quinerly Named a Finalist for the Bob Cousy Award

The award recognizes the top point guard in men’s college basketball
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Alabama point guard Jahvon Quinerly has been selected as one of 10 candidates for the 2022 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Monday.
The original Watch List of 20 was cut in half as the season approaches the final stretch of games. The 10 finalists will be narrowed to five in late February.
Quinerly , a junior from Hackensack, N.J., is one of four SEC players on the watch list, joining Auburn's Wendell Green Jr., Kentucky's Sahvir Wheeler and Tennessee's Kennedy Chandler. The other six finalists include Baylor's James Akinjo, Colorado State's Isaiah Stevens, Gonzaga's Andrew Nembhard, Oregon's Will Richardson, UCLA's Tyger Campbell and Villanova's Collin Gillespie.
College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected.
Jahvon Quinerly Notes
- Quinerly leads the team with 4.3 assists per game (4.3 apg) in addition to ranking second in scoring (14.6 ppg), field goals made (112) and field goals attempted (270) for the year
- Has topped Alabama in assists in a team-best 11 games this year and ranks second with 16 double-digit scoring games
- Posted a team-leading 20 points and five assists in the win over then-No. 4 Baylor last Saturday in Coleman Coliseum
- Picked up a season-best nine assists to go with 13 points and five boards vs. Missouri
- Has played in all 21 contests this season, averaging over 31 minutes a game
- The 2021 SEC Tournament Most Outstanding Player and member of last year's SEC All-Tournament Team
