Alabama’s Bobby Colantonio Jr. Named SEC Field Athlete of the Week

The Crimson Tide standout opened the 2022 season with a monster effort in the weight throw over the weekend which ranks him seventh all-time collegiately and smashed his own school record

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama junior Bobby Colantonio Jr. used a monster opening weekend to earn Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors the league office announced Tuesday.

Colantonio Jr. opened the season with a 24.15-meter effort in the weight throw at the Blazer Invitational, which not only smashed the school record he set in 2020, but also ranks him seventh all-time collegiately. His mark ranks him No. 1 in the nation in the weight throw by more than a meter and No. 1 in the SEC by more than three meters.
