The junior was named to the Crimson Tide Invitational All-Tournament team
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second straight week, Alabama junior Dru Kuck was named the Southeastern Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday.
Kuck started all three matches at libero in last weekend's Crimson Tide Invitational, leading the team with 60 digs (5.00/set) to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. She had 17 in the first two matches of the weekend before capping the tournament with 26 in the five-set comeback over Southern Miss. She was one assist shy of a double-double against the Golden Eagles, finishing with nine.
The weekly award is the 59th in program history and the second for Kuck, who transferred to Alabama this season after two years at Kansas State. She is the first Tide player to win multiple Defensive Player of the Week awards since Cidavia Hall in 2018.
Kuck and her Crimson Tide teammates play Kennesaw State tonight at 5 p.m. CT before heading to San Marcos, Texas, for the Bobcat Invitational, facing Texas State Friday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. CT and Miami Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11:30 a.m. CT.
